The Heiress and the Cowboy

I really truly enjoyed this sweet interracial romance novel. The main reason I really liked this romance novel was that it did not come across as just another interracial romance novel. It was greatly refreshing that Dahlia didn’t write the about the typical black woman in the novel and she didn’t emphasize too much on their races.

The whole novel was refreshing for me from beginning till end. I like that the billionaire was the female character Kerri and that she had a strong character. Kerri was born and into money and her whole like the media has been writing about her but she knows herself that when the media lies she stays true to herself.

One of Kerri’s company projects led her to Texas and in the close proximity to Alex. Alex is a super alpha male and he comes across as this hot man who knows what he wants and let’s nothing to stop him. Alex is a very mouth individual which I love to bits, it makes for interesting conversations and very funny moments.

After some unfortunate incidents Alex finds his pride trampled on therefore making himself actual hate Kerri.

“Mr. Mendoza, you issued a challenge and I’ve accepted,” Kerri said coolly before she turned. She called over her shoulder, “I’ll be here, Monday morning. I think five a.m. is the customary work hours on a ranch?”

After working on the ranch we learn so much about the two’s lives and all the signs that the two are perfect for each other start to show. Love in the wrong circumstances can be confused for hate. At first  I was taken aback saying it was too fast, they needed more time to get to know each other, but when the two are together everything seems so right.

All good things must come to an end when a snake amongst them puts an end to the little paradise the two have built on his ranch. This is a total happy story with so much humour from all the characters. Kerri’s best friend Nadia is the craziest friend on earth who you can’t help but love.

“Guess what?” Kerri said with excitement in her voice. “Him hung like bull” Nadia guessed. “No,” Kerri laughed “I helped deliver a calf.”

“Ewwww, keep that stuff to yourself.” Nadia yawned. “I’m going back to sleep, let me know when you want to talk about him being big”

It’s genuinely a lovely interracial romance novel which I will be coming back to reread. Loved it to bits 🙂

Kerri Sloan was always on the news, lights and cameras in her face, and she was known as the diamond heiress. Not because of the wealth she’d amassed but because she was cold as the jewels she wore. Now she was on his ranch waving a blank check thinking he’d sell out his dream. Alex Mendoza had two words for the gorgeous woman, and they weren’t, I’ll sell. But she wasn’t giving up, and after one heated discussion at a town hall meeting, he shut her up with a kiss. Alex instantly regretted the kiss because all he could do was think about bedding her each time he saw her. It scared the hell out of him that he might be falling in love.

Kerri took one look at Alex and assessed him as a typical Texas cowboy, which was unfair because she was presumed to be something she wasn’t. She made her wealth, and men hated her for it. So why would he be any different? Then Alex had to kiss her and complicate everything. How could she dislike a man who made her body tremble with just one touch? They had nothing in common and were as combustible as crude oil and an open flame. She could deny it all she wanted, but Kerri craved the heat they created. She knew everything about the boardroom, stocks, and building her empire, and nothing about losing her heart.
