I was a famous Rock Star by Alexandra Ainsworth

I was a famous Rockstar is the first book from the series Men of midnight Dreams. The story follows Caleb a member of a famous band called Fifth Element, which kind of makes me think of One Direction :).

If you forgot the last five years of your life and could see yourself from the clear perspective of your younger self, would you be happy, would you have the strength to make the necessary changes? Share in the comments below.

Caleb wakes up to a life where all his dreams have come true, in the superficial sense anyway but he can sense that something isn’t right but cannot remember exactly what is wrong.

“The whole world knows who I am? My eyebrows shoot up, and I stare at the doctor, who taps his pen against my chart, oblivious to having said anything extraordinary. I mean, my grandmother sometimes gets my name confused…”

From the moment Caleb woke up I was hooked on him, his honesty to his current situation is refreshing and funny. Alexandra brings Caleb across as this high-school sweetheart who doesn’t believe his as wonderful as the world makes him out to be, I mean all he remembers is being ignored in high school. This humble nature allows him to see the circumstances that led to him being in the hospital and his bravery to tackle the challenges that is his Rockstar life makes him even hotter.

The part of the book that had me completely mushy was the possibilities of a love so true that your body can tell it loves someone even if your brain cannot remember

“My breath quickens, and trickles of sweat beads my palms. His confidence sweeps me away, and I ponder a world where his meaning could be that of my dreams.”

And this is right off the bat from waking up.
Mateo.

The way Alexandra writes about Caleb and Mateo is perfection. I get all giddy from the prospect of being in love with someone no matter what. CAN YOU IMAGINE a love so strong amnesia can’t touch it. The scientific side of me says it’s explained through muscle memory and the romantic side of me believes in being in love forever.

From the moment Caleb saw Mateo he was taken.

“I opened my eyes. And he’s gorgeous.”

What I really like about the book is that it’s set in 2015. Being gay in 2015 is more accepted which allows for you to focus on the beautiful love story and not the constant fear that your favourite characters will get caught and killed. I have watched Brokeback Mountain and I was not happy with the ending.

This book is not long it literally took me two nights to finish it. It’s beautifully written and I would recommend this as a light read, it’s cheerful like a boyband should be and it’s got a happy ending.

“You like doing that?” Ezra asks finally. His voice sounds hoarse, and I hate the look of shock on his face. I hate that he expects me to date women, and that the friendliness that used to be on his face when he looked at me has been replaced with doubt.

I love Ezra in this book, his that surfer boy you can’t help but love because he seems to do no wrong. My Stepbrother the Rockstar follows his life and when I read the excerpt of the first chapter from the book my heart broke into a thousand pieces. Ezra might be gay…

What if the whole world knows who you are, but you wake up to find you have forgotten everything since high school?

When Caleb wakes up in a glamorous LA clinic, he is a changed man. His once-scrawny body is toned, his now-white teeth gleam, and everyone looks at him in adoration. Caleb shouldn't even be in the US--he's English, and has never traveled farther than London.

Somehow Caleb transformed from an eighteen-year old, sexually questioning, reclusive high school student who spent his free time composing and practicing music in his parents' shabby council flat to become a world famous rock star with adoring fans and his own mansion overlooking the Pacific.

Caleb bravely tries to fit into his new life as he recovers from his amnesia. But who is the handsome assistant publicity manager who visits him in the hospital? Why does everyone think Caleb is straight? What has Caleb forgotten? And will he ever remember?
