God’s redeeming love for us

Redeeming love is about love in its many forms. Love for a mother, father, lover and most importantly God. This well-written piece of heaven was the most emotional book I have read in a while. I do confess to crying a lot when it comes to books (and movies), but this book took me to another level. Not only did it play with my romance loving side but with my Christian insecurities as well. The book goes beyond a historical romance novel.

Redeeming love takes us on a journey through Sarah’s life. We first meet Sarah as a young girl being introduced to her father, all eager to be accepted. When her father does not accept her because she is the daughter of his mistress, life becomes hard. A series of unfortunate events take place that leaves you heartbroken and Sarah unrecognisable. Sarah becomes Angel and is run by bitterness and vengeance, she does not trust men and cannot let her hatred for them go.

Michael Hosea is a man of God. A man after my own heart. Everything he does is for the Lord and when the Lord leads him to Sarah/Angel he does as he is told because God knows best. He always believes that God has a plan for him and that to follow it is the best way and surest way to happiness. Michael starts his journey with Sarah/Angel knowing full well what she is. His faith is put to the test countless times.

Sarah/Angel on the other hand has been dealt a hard live and she did not trust men. She did not dare to hope or dream that this man was different.

“Hope was a dream, and reaching for it turned her life into an unbearable nightmare” that’s what she truly believed.

Sarah to me is all of us (as humans) and her journey is what we go through to find God. Not everybody has the same story but the structure is normally the same. You hate yourself and try to find redemption is someone else only to come to the final conclusion that you can only find healing in the one true God. The one who will always love you and be there for you.

I recommend this book to all Christians and none Christians who would like to see an example of the power of God. This book shows the truest testament of God’s power in our lives. No matter how dark the path we are travelling (Francine portrayed a painful path perfectly) God can always save and make us whole.

For those who have read the book share you views and for those who haven’t please make a point to read this one.

A Story of Love That Won't Let Go - No Matter What!

California’s gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.

Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside.

Then she meets Michael Hosea, a man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything. Michael obeys God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation, until despite her resistance, her frozen heart begins to thaw.

But with her unexpected softening comes overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she no longer can deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael does…the One who will never let her go.

A powerful retelling of the story of Gomer and Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life-changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love.
